The US never withdraws from anywhere.

The bases in Iraq are intended to be permanent, just like those in
this country and almost every other country in the world. Once the US
military get somewhere in there's no getting them out.

The ones in this country have been there since WW2. Somehow I feel the
threat of Hitler invading us now somewhat diminished.
