If we could only make it out to Oakland...!
But I wanted to pass this around so that people can get an idea of things that we can do here to raise awareness of "real", local, organically grown food.

Canning, Foraging, and Butchery, Oh My!

We know you’re barely able to sit still this week as you get ready for next weekend’s Eat Real Festival’s street foods, beers, and general deliciousness. But that’s just the beginning of what the festival will offer: our From Scratch Kitchenand Street Stagewill showcase the easiest ways for you to get good food, while providing some radical and inspiring demos, speakers, and artists to get you all hungry for change. On Friday Aug. 28th we’ll kick things off on the From Scratch Kitchen with home canning demos, a state-fair-inspired Yes I Canned Competition followed by the best handmade ice cream of the Bay. On Saturday, Aug. 29, the programming is anchored by the Flying Knives Butchery Contest, where three teams of local butchers will go head-to-head on quarter steers from Marin Sun Farms to see who’s got the best skills this side of the Mississippi. Not only is the entrance to Eat Real free of charge, the festival is also 100% kid-friendly:
we're happy to announce hands-on chef demos for kids on Saturday and Sunday and tours for kids of the marketplace all weekend long.

Throughout the three days of the event, the Lawn Stage will feature some of the best live Jazz, Latin Rhythms, R&B, Blues and Urban Cabaret that the Bay Area has to offer. At dusk on Friday and Saturday eves, the Lawn Stage will screen several film clips from movies about food, some are gloomy, some are funny, all are inspiring works that will get you thinking about the world beyond your taco. Check out the full lineup of flicks here.

Don’t miss your chance to buy your discounted Beer Shed tickets – online sales end Wednesday, August 26. The Keeping It Real Dinners are also booking up fast, so secure your place at the table today.Want to hear the drum beats and get the very latest news?
