Glean 2. (Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Agriculture) to
gather (the useful remnants of a crop) from the field after harvesting
[from Old French glener, from Late Latin glennāre, probably of Celtic origin]
And it's that time of the year - time to harvest and to glean the gardens.
The weather is obviously starting to flip into colder temps and we won't have too much more time to winterize the gardens.
What needs to be done: glean any produce out that you want to keep;
clean out any rocks, stakes, cages, anything that could hurt the mower or the tiller;
leave the boundary stakes and ropes to mark the plots.
I have a tiller available for anyone who would like to till their plot.
By the time I'm ready to sow winter rye, all of the plots will be tilled for the winter.
Please, I need your participation and active help on this; this is a critical time for the gardens preparation for next year.
Best,
Larry
P.S. - Don't forget to get me an estimation of how much food you've grown, and to let me know whether or not you want your same plot again next year.
Hard copy letters of all of this will be following.
