I understand, Tina, and to you and to everyone else:
In point of fact, the City (Kurt) has been doing nothing about the gardening program. Many of you may be aware that the application was taken off of the City's web site sometime last fall (we found out around the end of October) so that no one could apply for a plot. Instead I've been receiving phone calls and emails for the past 4 months. Rather than leaving everything until the last minute, I decided to start gathering information now rather than later to avoid the problems that we had last year trying to do everything at the last minute.
In point of fact we have not gotten any information as to the City's intentions (at least until Kurt's email of today).
However, Akron Grows is not the only community gardening program in which we're involved; we are not employees solely of the City of Akron. We also work with the University Park Alliance, several churches, and some privately owned plots which are being offered for community garden use. So if the City decided to not continue the Akron Grows program, we wanted to know who was and was not interested in continuing to garden communally and we would have done everything in our power to place you in another garden or create a new one if necessary and possible. This is why the application we sent around has only the name of the Akron Cooperative on it, and there is no mention of the City of Akron or of Akron Grows. Understand that everything that we have done with the community gardens has been to fulfill our mission statement for the benefit of our gardeners, past, present, and future.
I will return your check as soon as it arrives here.

Subject: Application
Larry,
I mailed my application along with a $50 check for the community garden yesterday, March 16th. You should receive it either today or tomorrow. I was not aware that this is separate from the City of Akron's garden program. I want to participate in the same program as I did last year.
Will you please mail my check back to me so I can turn it over to the City of Akron for my old plot? My mailing address is on the enclosed application.
Thank you for your help,
Tina Reynolds
