We've recently made a change to the way that subscribers are added to lists.

We've disabled and removed the ability for list admins to mass subscribe email addresses to lists.
Now when you add email addresses via the admin interface it acts to invite people instead.

An email is sent to them to which must be confirmed either by

1. Responding via email. This is as simple as clicking reply, then send from their mail client

or

2. Following a link in the email to a web page.

We've had to do this because lists have been set up with large numbers of subscribers, which contained addresses that were clearly not opt in,
+and used for sending unsolicited bulk email.

This affects our ability to deliver email from any list to its subscribers, it creates problems for our hosting, and is in general a "bad
+thing".
This should not affect you if you are adding addresses to lists for people who have agreed to receive your mailings.

We understand that in the real world it is sometimes difficult for people to read instructions in email and reply successfully. We also know
+that following a link through to our website https://lists.aktivix.org can be difficult also due to non-commercial web certificates and web
+browsers showing warnings. We are looking to change the certificate for https://lists.aktivix.org to one that is accepted in most web

You can also help people subscribe by sending them a clearly worded welcome message which explains the issues and guides them through the
