Hi all,

Just to introduce Nebojsa Milikic to this email list, as he's been working
with me on alt.media.res in Belgrade for quite some time now. See his CV
attached. Hi Nebojsa!

Nebojsa and I have engaged with quite a number of alt.media people in
Belgrade since about March. Basically, the Indy Belgrade collective
(http://belgrade.indymedia.org/) is basically defunct. So, we've been
talking to those who have been part of Indy Belgrade in the past to
understand their situation better. They are now running alternative
alt.media projects (see the left hand side of the Indy Belgrade site).

We'll upload the interview transcripts to the private wiki as soon as we
can. We are currently going through the interviews, analysising them, in the
hope that we'll be able to re-engage with people on the ground in order to
maybe contribute to a possible re-start of Indy Belgrade (a lot of
complicated personal stories involved).

This ties in with the recent art/activism caravan in the region
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/actions/2006/aa/. I've heard from Fabian that
people on this caravan (particularly from IMC Notth) have been talking to
quite a few interested alt.media actors in Serbia and people seemed quite
excited to establish an Indymedia Serbia. So, what now needs to happen is
that we connect these two separate events and see whether our research in
Belgrade can help to re-ignite Indy in Belgrade and Serbia. If you have any
more info about who to contact re the recent art/activism caravan, so that
we can get people from Belgrade in touch with them, that would be great.

Cheers,
Steffen
