HI ya,
I think the below sounds interesting. Given we had interesting
methodological issues, we should be able to contribute.
The panels look interesting...
So, I think Andre should get in touch with them expressing our interest.
Thoughts?

Dear members of the NPGA programme,

Some of you will have heard from Jelke Boesten already that we would
like to organise an NPGA one day seminar on research methods in Bradford
at the ICPS in Peace Studies. We had originally thought of a seminar
series and when we initially wrote to you it was with that in mind.
However it makes more sense, we think, to involve as many people from
the programme as possible in a one day event. We have to put a proposal
to the programme, so at this stage we are seeking expressions of
interest and whether the provisional date of 14th May 2008 would suit
people.

Aims:

1. to share methodologies for researching with non governmental actors
and to reflect critically on these

2, To prepare an NPGA panel for the ESRC methods festival in July

3. To think about the possibility of a publication on our methodologies

Our suggestion is that we divide the day into panels on methodological
approaches. Below I suggest some, but I do not know all the
methodologies which have been used and people might have other
suggestions.

Panel 1: Interactive Research and Co-Producing Knowledge

Panel 2: Participatory media in research (video, theatre, web etc)

Panel 3: Academic Research and Activism: the challenges

Panel 4: Ethical dimensions of researching with non governmental public
actors

PLEASE suggest others or query these. When we have sufficient feedback I
will do a formal proposal and put it to the Programme.

Very best

Jenny Pearce
