The Women’s Library celebrates 40 years of the Women’s Liberation Movement on the anniversary of the first national Women’s Liberation Conference at Ruskin College, Oxford. With first-hand accounts of women involved in the movement, the exhibition celebrates the sisterhood and spirit of 1970s feminism. More information

Striking Women: Voices of South Asian workers from Grunwick & Gate Gourmet

This free exhibition gives a fascinating insight in to the history of industrial change, social activism, migration and South Asian women in Britain. Taking the 1976 strike at Grunwick and the 2005 dispute at Gate Gourmet as the focus, Striking Women celebrates the significant role played by South Asian women in the workplace. More information

For the first time, The Women’s Library is undertaking an exciting project to create an exhibition of original artworks, inspired by items in our collection. This month, artists Helen Camock, Marysia Lewandowska, Olivia Plender and Hester Reeve, Eileen Simpson and Ben White will begin creating their pieces.

New ArtAngel Acquisition
Well-renowned artist group ArtAngel recently donated a wonderful new illustrated book called 'Staying' to The Women’s Library. The group have been working with lesbian asylum seekers and refugees to create the book, which explores the process of seeking asylum in the UK and life in London.
