[Bay.area.icarus] San Francisco Meeting

Hi All,

I'm sending this out to both list serves because I'm not really sure who to send this note to.

I went to the SF Icarus meeting tonight... and there were two other people, also new (it was their first meeting, my third, counting two Oakland meets I attended). No one else came. I shared with them how the format was in the Oakland meeting and we ended up doing a check-in with one another and then left early. I'm glad the three of us connected.

I'm not angry or upset but I do think it's really bad form to organize a meeting and then not have anyone from the core group show up. Luckily none of us were particularly in immediate crisis, or anything like that.

I really get that this is a grassroots sort of thing and shit happens. I'm also big on self-care and responsibility stuff so I hope this doesn't sound like a blaming thing. I'm just a little concerned about one person who came to the meeting, who had confirmed by email, someone who is brand new to Icarus, and also really new on "the journey."

I would love to hear from the organizers of the SF meeting about what happened, it would be nice to know and I can communicate with the other two people - I want them to feel like they can connect again with Icarus. And in the future, maybe there's a way to put a note on the meeting room door that says something like "sorry but we had to cancel the meeting at the last moment." Something like that?

Thanks -

- Jessica
