*Local Action Event on 15th December at House of Commons*

I want to alert you to an event that is happening on the 15th December at
the House of Commons meeting from 3.30 to 5pm in the Large (or Grand!)
Committee Room which will bring together two kinds of innovator:

(a) Local people who get together informally, starting out from scratch
entirely on their own; perhaps attracting outside support, if needed, later
on.

(b) Concerned professionals in the voluntary sector, aid bodies, local
and central government, MPs and Lords.

It’s an opportunity for both elements to get wise to each other (some would
say they know it all already; others are still learning); and to recognize
and develop ways to make the most of each other’s capacities in the face of
the problems/opportunities/unforeseen emergencies that lie ahead – climate
change, banking crises, poverty etc.

For the first 20-30 minutes of the House of Commons meeting an informal
“market” is planned – each grassroots representative on her or his patch, so
that everyone else can visit those that particularly attract or concern
them.

For the remaining hour or so there will be a plenary session, with the
minimum of formal talk, with two key items:

· Follow-up action in which everybody can easily be involved

· A few of us can keep everyone informed of what is being done,
and/or what needs doing – between us all.

All this will help to generate and maintain momentum with maximum grassroots
participation. Attached is Tony Gibson’s guide which has inspired this
event. The ethos of the event is very much about active individuals rather
than being on behalf of organizations – hopefully that is a refreshing
change

*Please email me back* if you would like to attend, the sooner the better,
given the room capacity.
