Hey Everyone
*Democracy Working Group*
I am using the occupylondon+democracy at groupspaces.com mail list as it
appears to be working again. However I propose to set up a separate list at
http://groupspaces.com/RealDemocracyNow/ which we set up months ago and may
be more secure by being separate from the occupy london space. this would
also mean that we didn't all get subjected to mails from the occupy london
main list which tend to get out of hand easily so may be a good idea in
itself. What do people think ?
We had planned to meet tonight but George and Dan can't make it and asonly
Paul and Corinna have otherwise confirmed I think we should cancel it.
However I do think we can move forward, if people are up for it. John/GA
planning have pencilled in Friday as a Democracy focused GA. I can't make
it but would others like to go there and help facilitate a discussion on
any of the following? Also, there is a national Occupy gathering this
weekend in Edinburgh, shall we contribute Paul's very recent critique on
democracy ( see attached ) for discussion, and also put forward the call
for a days of action on Jan 14th ( the Putney idea ) and in March ( the
Europe -wide idea ) ? Also George's suggestion below this mail ( scroll
down ) and perhaps a brief sumary of the work we have done so far,
including obstacles and an encouragement could be put forward for the
gathering to perhaps consider the ideas further. I know they are trying to
forge a national statement so our work should really be included even
though we are very much a work-in-progress. What do people think?
About the critique, we can discuss it here alternatively I can set up a
wiki for it on the real democracy now groupspace I mentioned above.
I will be away from this weekend until next Wed but could meet after that
to take any / all of this further forward.
Let me know if you'd like me to set up a cleaner discussion space at
http://groupspaces.com/RealDemocracyNow/
Cheers
Mark
PS I have cc/d Jamie Kelsey into this cos he is such a diamond and an
expert in getting GA consensus
for political content. Jamie, please save us - we need you!!!!
