Hi all,
No reply for a while, so I will attempt to take this forward.
For reference, this is how the front page looked last night when I
edited it:
http://dump.jonathanleighton.com/caravan_front_page.png
I propose the following:
* Title stays as "Climate Camp 2009 / Stopping carbon markets / Because
nature doesn't do bailouts"
* We shouldn't repeat links which are in the LHS menu in the main body
of the page. The only one which is not in the LHS menu is the Copenhagen
one. So I propose we put a "Copenhagen" item in the menu. (The menu is
getting too long, see below for proposals on that.)
* We remove the link to the legal report. The media frenzy for that has
come and gone. It doesn't need to be on the front page, and is linked
from the legal page.
* We use the coal caravan image and a large link saying "The Coal
Caravan", beneath the image, to link to the caravan page.
* On the caravan page we have the "call-out" (which I previously put on
the front page). We don't have the "updates" (that's being covered by
their blog). Below the call-out we provide links to the flier, route and
newspaper (as is on there at the moment), but we don't use the massive
coal newspaper image either on the front page or the coal caravan page.
* We can have the "First the city traders..." text below the coal
caravan image and link on the front page. I don't think it's ideal (bit
specific to G20) but don't have the energy to suggest something better
for the moment.
With regards to the menu:
* "Reclaiming property" should be a sub-item of "Climate Camp 2008"
* "Past Minutes" and "How we work" should be a sub-item of "National
Gatherings"
* "Links" should be a sub-item of "About Us" (can't think of a better
place, but I definitely don't think it needs to be a top-level item)
* Potentially more changes could be made but again I don't have the
energy right now. I think the above should help though.
Please could I have comments on this fairly soon, say by 6PM, so we can
move forward with this.
Cheers,
Jon

She should have contacted website at .... if she wanted changes. The G20 being promoted to the front page was a one off. We have never done that before and in my opinion it was a bad idea. In the past we have always considered that a measure of consistency should exist on the front page.
