[Cc-webedit] The Great Climate Swoop

This all seems good to me:

Main promo – Swoop (swoop group)  (what’s the format in this one –
text plus two links?)

Promo 1 – 10 reasons (workshops/handbook – I can do this one)

Promo 2 – Climate swoop vote (it’s a spoof? That changes everything –
am I being  thick here?)

Promo 3 – Copenhagen (international group)

Promo 4 – Video (Meedja)

We need graphics or images in those promos also - I was going to look
at this as part of the content stuff.

We’ll also need 4 blog posts, 3 links in media circus, 3 press releases…

Will Hyperactive be ready to feed the frontpage?

And the latest tweet from twitter/facebook etc

We did discuss last week a box for 4-5 static links somewhere below
the 4 promos. It would be very handy I think.

But...

I’m really unhappy about this ongoing media video stuff. It’s not
clear to me if this is a media group video or visionontv – now it
seems the video is on climate rush.

I think the process of the homepage should be that working groups
request (not demand) slots on the homepage from the web group. It’s
our job to balance competing priorities (Iggy’s email illustrates the
point perfectly I think).

I think if the media group has a video made by themselves to promote
the camp, then that has a good case for being on the front page.  But
it should be on a case-by-case (or video-by-video) basis – not an
ongoing feed of random videos.

External videos – however supportive –are to me a different matter.
Not saying they shouldn’t be there, but there should certainly be no
presumption that they automatically appear on our homepage. If vision
on are doing daily videos on the camp – we need to dicuss that with
them.

I’m really not interested in a group’s “strong consensus” – we should
expect every request to be backed with consensus within that group.

If people in the media group want to be involved in that process of
helping with the homepage, that’s absolutely fine – they can join the
website group.

And another meedja thing…..

I’m not too keen on the media group taking over the blog. Obviously we
need them involved, and they’ll probably produce more posts than
anyone else. But they shouldn’t be “mediating” other groups’ posts,
such as legal – the whole point of the blog is to get away from
traditional media channels. I secretly long for off-message blog
posts, and I’m sure I’m not the only one….

Rant over,

Alistair…………<<dismounts and watches high horse on soapbox gallop

> 3. Copenhagen - we've committed as the Camp to going to Copenhagen so I think we should have Copenhagen and the Reclaim Power day of action as a feature - it's all part of the package of why coming to this camp is important. Did I say package? We can also highlight the international workshops at the Camp.

Eg. it would be good to have a link to Climate Camp Radio, maybe the Save Vestas blog, maybe the Ireland Camp if it's happening etc. Almost like a 'Hotlinks' box which isn't particularly structured but is a way to avoid having to have endless discussions about why things that are happening at any given moment and are interesting aren't more important than the four priority items...
