Yo yo,

So, at last night's meeting, we drew up a list of requests from the media
team for the new shiny website
(if you haven't seen it yet, swing by
climatecamp.org.uk).<https://we.riseup.net/cc_media+btm/be-the-media-website-please-read+30709>

We said that we wanted, on the front page, and in order of priority:
1) Photo galleries
2) Video player
3) Radio player
4) a Twitter box which updates more frequently

I've posted this all to the discussion page below - can we try and keep it
there please!

I've spoken with jon from website crew, so here's a proposal to deal with
these points:
1) Photos
web crew are talking to minimouse about this. Given that mike knows the ins
and outs of all this, perhaps that could go in a separate email.

2) Video
as soon as the swoop video is ready, we change the main image on the front
page, currently the cardboard style flyer, to the climatecamp.tv video
player
(This also deals with our discussion about static images). The reason not to
put the video player up now, is simply that it probably wouldn't have the
right kind of content up there, as there isn't a call-out video.

3) Radio
We make one of the 'highligh boxes' (those four boxes beneath the main image
on the front page) to a radio player

4) Twitter
Using the official Twitter feed (the updates of what everyone is twittering
about the camp) would mean that the page would take a while to load.
Atm, the feed we're using updates every half hour, but it's easy enough to
make that much less. (Jon mentioned every 5 minutes, but perhaps that could
even be every minute?)

Finally, showing stuff from other people's blogs was also discussed, though
I feel that's really part of an ongoing discussion probably best continued
here: https://we.riseup.net/cc_media/blog+30803

Anyway, comments and thoughts on the crabgrass please!

cheers,
richard
