I tried signing up for jrank, and then discovered that they want us to
link to their site from our front page - no way!

I tried signing up for Fusion Bot, but got this error:

"Service for this URL has already been established.
Please check your URL and try again."

Have you already signed up for it Neil?

Jim - I agree it would be good to use Scroogle but that doesn't actually
solve our problem (that the Google indexes aren't up to date for our
site)

Long term we have two options:

* Install a separate search server/crawler, such as Nutch:
http://lucene.apache.org/nutch/

* Use some sort of full-text search indexer which generates indexes
direct from the database and then build a search UI on top of it.

I suspect Nutch is going to be the route of least pain if it isn't too
hard to set up (and it is written in Java so I'm not holding out too
much hope ;)
