hi Jonathan,
It is looking good. Nice template, well laid out. Very well said about
trusting designer to do their job. It would be nice if we could adopt this
as a ethos on this list.
Still I have some comments in regards to content and hierarchy of
information. The camp has FOUR aims, action being one - but education,
sustainable living, and movement building are the other three. The content
on this homepage is very heavily action focused and I am concerned that is
is not grounded with the other three aims. If I were new to CC when I
visited this site I would want immediately to know WHY? - and there is no
link to this section. It is all action news.
Here are specific issues:
- A lack of a space for 'resources' - or 'background information'.
Everything is very news / blog oriented. We develop quite a lot a content
and it would be good if we could have an area researchers could go to access
information.
- Nothing to point people to an 'about' page. - For total newcomers they
want our mission statement, how we do our thing, etc.
In regards to design:
- I think you need to be a little careful about putting unnecessary
information on the homepage - which is making a bit more visual clutter than
necessary. Make sure everything on the homepage especially serves a purpose.
Are the dates for the blogs really necessary there? Could they be smaller or
lighter or gone ideally.
Good work.
Jody
