hi all,

following a consensus decision at the imc northern meeting today, i'm
pleased to say what we're going to be offering in terms of support for the
swoop. I'm forwarding the following mail as a sneak preview to you guys so
can hopefully work out some integration between the two sites.

In the first instance, that we replace the imc london links on the front
page with those of imc notts for the swoop. We can work out some kind of
tagging policy for this during the week between us.

We will be keeping an up to date and verified timeline on the front page
of imc notts. I propose that this is integrated into the front page on the
day somewhere as it will all be accurate. For this reason i propose it
will be more prominent than the twitter feed (one of the tools that we
will use to verify information, along with imcers on the ground and
liaison with the media team.

I will set up a private irc room on the indymedia irc server for dispatch
for the event. I propose that this room has in it people working on indy
dispatch, the website and offsite media people (i'll mail them separately)
so there is a real time way of verifying events to the timeline and
sharing the load of updating content between sites. I can sort logins for
the notts indy site if people would like to help in a hands on way on the
day with moderation and keeping tags consistent. Likewise we will be able
to help with the cc site as we will be offsite and have a reliable
internet connection.

Hope this is ok with everyone. There may well be some regular streams of
consciousness from me this week :-)

Hi All

I've been talking to a couple of people who are involved in the media
provision for the Great Climate Swoop at Ratcliffe-on-Soar on Saturday
17th. My understanding is that Notts Indymedia (closest IMC to the
action) are going to be short of people to do despatch, because some
people will be celebrating Veggies' 25th anniversary (hooray!) and some
will be taking part in the action.

To support the action and to show solidarity with Notts IMC, Northern
Indymedia would like to take on running a despatch service on the day,
and we have a team of volunteers ready to do so.

My intention is to announce this as a service to the Climate Swoopers on
Tuesday evening. I understand that there is also a plan to use some
mainstream social networking tools to get news out on the day but that
there are technical (as well as political) problems with this, so
another way is needed.

We had been planning to run a 'be the media' centre in the area on the
day, but there have been logistical problems with that, and it seems
that a despatch service will be more useful given the decentralised
nature of the action.
