Hi all,
(Attached)
I spoke to some folk in Media while at Camp the other day about responding
to some of the unfair and misreported negative articles about Climate Camp,
in particular Alan Cochrane's piece titled 'Supporters of Climate Camp
action are "useful idiots"', which appeared in The Daily Telegraph on 23
August (available
here<http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/alancochrane/7960309/Supporters-of-Climate-Camp-action-are-useful-idiots.html>
).
The article I've written took several hours to write and totals 2,500 words,
which seems excessive I know :) but it's well researched and I'm hapy to cut
out or amend chunks of it- I just need your feedback now as I've spent far
too much time on it to know what to edit out.
Also - a separate point - as well as putting it on the CC website, how do
people feel about approaching other media (The Independent? Indymedia?) to
print/post some of or all of the article too? I was going to suggest Comment
is Free in The Guardian but just noticed yet another inflammatory and
inaccurate piece about us in The Guardian today ('Climate Camp is
restricting free
speech'<http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/2010/aug/26/climate-camp-free-speech>-
they seem to have confused free speech with freedom of the press).
I think a swift response to Alan's article (dated 23 August) is necessary,
so I'm happy to cut/edit/amend the article in any way so long as there is
consensus on it.
Solidarity
