2009-2010 World Walk launches âround the world from New Zealand , 2 Oct
2009; Transcontinental 90-day March for Peace and Nonviolence traverses
Eur-Africa & Americas continents, to end in Argentina . Â Objectives: Â
Planetary bioregional polar regions as World Peace Parks, so as to prevent
or resolve world militarization conflict, or environmental disasters over
these (surface and subsurface) heavy-metals-rich bioregions. March walk
began at Wellington Mount Victoriaâs Antarctica Monument and Mohandas
Gandhi Statue, on Mohandasâ birthday, which is also the U.N.
International Day of Nonviolence â coordinating in 90 countries, over
160,000-kilometres, or about 99,500 miles. Â March ends, 2 January 2010
â same day as Egypt-Gaza-Israel âLong-Mileâ March, below â in
Southern Argentina, closest âlandfallâ to Antarctica, at the base of
Aconcagua, the highest mountain ridge in the Americas. Â Core March
leaders Gita Brooke, (Whanganui-Wellington), and Rafael de la Rubia, (
Spain ), echo Bunny McDiarmid, (Greenpeace Aotearoa-New Zealand), in
consultation with worldâs Arctic-Nordic Councils and United
NationsâAntarctic Treaty groups. Lucy Lawless sparks march, under a
Chinese-style banner dragon made from Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior ship
sails; latter sunk by French government-nuclear weapons agents, (Auckland
1985). Â March endorsed by, among others, Jane Fonda, Bryan Adams, Dalai
Lama, Desmond Tutu, Martin Sheen, Yoko Ono, David Nalbandian, Penelope
Cruz, and Jose Ramos-Horta. Â March organizing roots may stem from Aussie
and Kiwi mobilizations co-creating Greenpeace, globally, (with Vancouver
Is, Ameri-Canadian environmentalists) â over resistance to alleged
oil-related coup dâetats and nuclear bomb blast-tests across the
Southern Pacific â Opposing nuclear fallout linked with rising
UV-related skin cancer âwarmingâ rates (Pacific World War âIIIâ
âTestsâ), as well as blocked Iraqi oil access (1975); Latter linked
with Irangate or Iran-Contra arms-and-drugs business complications,
(U.S.-SE Asia war interventions); Largest demonstrations (some risking
âlive fireâ) historically, stem from Auckland, Wellington, and
Melbourne, also addressing âwarmingâ floods, drought & firestorm
trends, (Monash, Victoria, and LaTrobe universities). See

First significant U.S. nonviolent direct action events launched (5 Oct
2009) against Barack Obama (BHO)-White House-staged wars, in Washington ,
DC . Â During a week of protest, demonstrators lockdown and rally with
street theatre at McPherson Square; Effort led by groups like Quakers,
Code Pink, Peace Action, War Resisters League, World Canât Wait,
Veterans for Peace, Voices for Creative Nonviolence, United for Peace &
Justice, and Goldstar Mothers of U.S. Vets for Peace (Cindy Sheehan). Â
U.S. Park and DC Police arrest 61 protesters stressing Guantanamo and
Afghanistan & Iraq war crimes. Â Like-minded protests resonate with
coalescing, (late December to 2 January 2010), Gaza âLong Mileâ March
walk across the Erez (Egypt-Palestine/Israel) Border Crossing; Major
figures, Â Alice Walker, Hedy Epstein, Noam Chomsky, Ronnie Kasrils,
Mairead McGuire, Medea Benjamin, Louis Vitale, Oliver Stone, and Suzzane
Mubarak; 42 countries participating; Many hunger strikers, age-levels.

_ Planetary Cyber Conflict                Gaza-Copenhagen
Climate Justice Conundrum â From Feb 2009 Copenhagen conference,
satellite-oriented U.S.-Israeli-European Union intelligence groups propel
mercenary soldiers into Eastern Mediterranean, much like mercenaries
overshadowing U.S. military intervention in Afghani, Iraqi, and Saudi wars
since 1990s. Â Reasons cited include Hamas arms smuggling from Africa and
Asia . Â Rather than using such global âintelligenceâ for fighting
net crime, or encouraging Israeli-Palestinian production of solar energy
power, such âintelâ designing dedicates other-than-oil power
technology almost solely for export (outside Israel & Palestine). Â For
instance, Christophe Bouvier, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)
European Regional Director, notes that while Israel, ironically, may be a
foremost solar technology exporter, nevertheless, actual solar energy
production, (not-for-export), lags well behind not only Spain or South
Africa, but also Mexico, Senegal, or Eritrea. Â Current âintelâ
planning thus also drives local oil-war-oriented pollution of food and
water sources, even though the Middle East, geophysically, under global
warming scenarios, may be much more arid, much less likely to support
future life. Â
In effect Gazansâ 1.5 million people face environmental PTSD toxicity
not forecast by Copenhagen doomsday scenarios until the late 21st Century
â such as, e.g., almost no uncontaminated water access, with about 1/2
half of newborn babies suffering nitrate pollution birth defects
(methaemoglobinaemia). Â Bombing, blockades, and ground water
salinization enforces virtual collapse of Gazansâ sanitary and other
community water systems. Â UNWRAA ranks Gazan unemployment at 80% â
while asymmetrically-paid forces (U.S.-Israeli General Intelligence and
Preventive âC-3â Security systems) in effect derail UN building
projects to rebuild food and water systems. Â Such âC-3â CIA-trained
mercenaries much resemble analogous paid-paramilitary Iraqi and Afghani
groups outnumbering nation-state troops; Meanwhile U.S.-CIA-related
Reports on Torture remain censored.
On the other hand, beyond war strategies, past- and future-oriented
sustainable development alternatives, include, for example, the
past-oriented life stories surfacing through many obituaries, worldwide,
with the Philippines passing of Corazon (Cory) Aquino; Or in the U.S., a
cyberized âMannahatta Projectâ relating Delaware-Lenape-Manhattan
history, rooted in political figures like William Penn and a Walum Olum
genesis myth â Modeling structures and strategies beyond war, underlying
New York City, trans-culturally. Â Future-oriented alternatives, in the
same manner, include the Obama (BHO) White House, sponsoring, for the
first time, in-house, the Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Annual Memorial Human
Rights Advocacy Award, as well as U.S. Presidential Award Presentations,
to, for instance, Desmond Tutu and Joseph Lowery. Â RFK 2009 Award
(inside White House) went to WOZA , a Zimbabwean nonviolent womenâs
group. Â In contrast, in 1984, the first such RFK Award went to
Salvadoran CoMadres women organizing against wartime disappearances of
children; But Ronald Reagan denied CoMadres U.S. entry for receiving that
1984 RFK Award, (alleging terrorism, as to CoMadre work with Archbishop
Arturo Romero and the Latin-American refugee network, CARECEN). Â Once
the RFK Award money reached El Salvador , Reagan-supported Salvadoran
government agents then took that money, killing or punishing whatever
feedback. Â Contemporary CoMadres and other RFK Award recipients work
internationally, often advocating nonviolence, across the worldâs
conflict zones. Â Retrospectively, the 2008 RFK Award, (not allowed in
BHO âWhite Houseâ), went to Aminatou Haidar, Western Saharan or
âSaharawi Gandhiâ âover her resisting corporate extraction of
munitions-agro-business-related chemicals, and protesting
relatively-hidden Marok-Saharawi political prison systems that parallel
â9-11â-Guantanamo torture controversy. Â See Yaakov Katz,

_ Planetary Apartheid War               University Boycott,
Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Conferences explore long-range consumer
transnational corporate or TNC methods for boycotting U.S.-Israeli
Apartheid; Dialogue ranging from Georgetown , Pittsburgh , Stanford, and
Hampshire, to UC-Berkeley. Â Women-led groups like the International
CodePink Boycott introduce cosmetic TNC divestment options, primarily
sanctioning Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories, (19% Ahava owned by Disney
familyâs Shamrock Holdings). See

_ Planetary Disease-Pollution         Dec 2009 World Copenhagen
Environmental Conference â Kumi Naidoo and Wangari Maathai present a
petition, signed by over 10 million people, for a fair climate justice
deal, to Denmarkâs prime minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, in Copenhagen,
(latter sharing, like Amsterdam, an urban bicycle culture). Â Neighboring
England and Germany deploy â9-11â âterrorâ laws to stifle
demonstrations at Copenhagen âs Bella Center , ( Scandinavia âs
largest such conference venue). Â Like in early 2009, supportive street
demonstrations again sweep the planetâs major cities â 3,000+ marches
and vigils in 139 countries, many with over 50,000 protesters. Â
Concurrent, month-long+ climate justice hunger strike led by Anna Keenan,
(Danish citizen, from Brisbane, Australia, and a former student of Al
Gore), and 6 others, in a fast joined by 150+ others, in over 20 nations,
often salt-water only â from Honduras to Romania and the Central African
Republic. Â Over 2,000 protester arrests, along with preemptive Saturday
police detainment of over a 1,000 protesters from over 100,000 walkers,
over a 4-mile march stretch; (Detained often for hours, crowded,
handcuffed, freezing weather, toilet denied, on wet pavement stones,
enveloped periodically with teargas); About 75,000 delegates, reporters,
observers. Â Arrested protesters represent Europe, as well as, for
example, China, Kenya, Japan, Turkey, Belarus, Mongolia, and the Americas;
Dutch-Danish legal support team, online, with many adding food-supply
logistics. Â In retrospect, in nonviolence discourse literature, Denmark
may have often been represented as symbolizing nonviolent resistance to
overcome 1940s National Socialism or Nazism; Though core writers and
actions then included Henrietta Roland Holst and Clara Meijer Wichmann,
both of which articulated nonviolent liberation from occupation themes,
(largely, yet to be translated from Dutch, contextually);
âNonviolenceâ in Danish: Ikkevold ; in Dutch: Geweldlosigheid ;
literally, no-violence and liberation from violence, respectively. Â
Sustainable, symbolic results of the Copenhagen Accord Conference may
eventually be introduced âgreenâ products, like
M.I.T.-Italy-Copenhagenâs âCopenhagen Wheel,â a compact, e-assisted,
recharge-able, kinetic-energy, drum-driven Bicycle hub attachment, (within
spokes), with âintelligentâ directional Bluetooth and interlocking
wireless-GIS-GPS options. Â Bolivia may host alternative âInternational
Mother Earth Dayâ summit, 22 April 2010. Â
