[Cc-webedit] Updating the website

Hey web team,

So Alistair showed me how to work the CMS on Thursday, which was great. I've
now been through the website and made some notes on what I feel needs
updating/changing, which I've typed up below. I've put an '(x)' next to the
things I feel I can do and are seemingly uncontraversial, so I'd appreciate
if some of the more experienced people on this list could hold off doing
them for a week so that I have a chance to get my hands dirty!

Most of the ones I've crossed are to do with content - just to clarify, I'll
try and not write this all myself, but try and find content from elsewhere
(handbook; flyers), or chase up other people to help me compile new content.

There are some other slightly bigger changes I think would be good, mainly
regarding the Blog, and some proposals for the Front Page, Past Actions and
Next Actions.

cheers,
Richard

6. Get Involved front page
7. Get Involved sections
8. Blog
9. Press

*1. Front Page*
a Change feature text to 'Post Copenhagen'
b Change to non copyright image
c Copenhagen - what we did write up (x)
d Cop out camp out highlight write up (x)
e Climate camp tv needs new blurb with punctuation and better video (x)
f Gathering highlight

*2. Blog*
a Needs a newer blog post (x)
b Climate Campers Online needs to pick up Indymedia DK and other blogs

*3. Next Actions*
a Come to the Gathering - image, text, change the links
b Remove Copenhagen from the next Actions box
c Proposal: What about the Mainshill Solidarity camp as Ongoing?
d E.On F.Off needs updates (like Kingsnorth beings shelved; youtube videos;
Ratcliffe.) (x)

*4. Past Actions front page*
a Copenhagen needs to go there
b Trafalgar Square write up? (x)
c Where do local actions like Didcott etc go?
d Climate Camp Scotland and Wales? Currently takes three links to get to
Scot, 2 to Wales, 1 for England.
e Proposal, putting the Past Actions in chronological order:
(Bigger) Copenhagen - Trafalgar Square
(Smaller) Swoop - Blackheath - Wales - Scotland
(Smaller) G20 - Kingsnorth - Heathrow - Drax

*5. Past Actions sections*
a Summaries needed for each action -perhaps around 400 words, plus a video
(or photo if no video available) Slideshows would be good.
b Heathrow info is on a previous website somewhere (x)
c Does the same go for Drax? (x)
d Kingsnorth info is at old.climatecamp, just needs to be migrated (though
the radio link no longer works; would be good to get this up again) (x)
e Swoop banner could change, and we need one of the subsequent videos there,
not Fences (x)
f Blackheath needs a video (x)
*
6. Get Involved front page*
a Needs to move emphasis to local groups (top of list, etc)
b About should be further up (x)
c the two lists don't correspond
d Delete the weird advert at the bottom (x)
e Maybe it could be more like the other front pages, with pictures and jumpy
text boxes?
*
7. Get Involved sections*
a Get Educated - could do with some politics. links? resources? PDFs? (x)
b How we work - could have updates from the Handbook (x)
c Working Groups - lists don't correspond; several need updating or
'archiving' (x)
d Local Groups - could these have blogs on them, and then aggregated to the
main blog?
e Spread the Word - this is basically the page of the Networking and
Outreach working groups. Perhaps they could have some input to this page?
(x)
f About Us - update text. Make Principles and Unity parts more separate, and
flag them up more. (x)
g Take Direct Action - this currently serves no functional use as a page
h Other Events - currently just an advert for a bygone ActionAid event

*8. Blog*
a Aggregate from local blogs, and also working group blogs?

*9. Press*
a Do we need the NUJ and Marc V things up there? (x)
b Could separate press stories by month to make them easier to read
