Hello web crew,
Brad from Process Group here...
At our Process meeting last night we talked about some of the more 'process' orientated pages, and how they could be updated to be more up to date with how things currently stand.
I've also agreed to be a process liaison for the website group, so happy to be a point of contact around gathering stuff, local groups, or anything else process related.
Also, more generally happy to help out with website consent, upkeep (though, not a techie). It sounded from the feedback at the gathering like an extra hand might be helpful.
SUGGESTED AMENDMENTS TO 'GET INVOLVED PAGES'
Be great to have feedback on these from you folk. I'm happy to update these changes myself with a log in (and Jon's happy to train me to do this), but equally happy for them to be uploaded by others -whatever suits!
1. A general 'rebranding' issue we're trying to introduce: All references to National Gatherings should be changed to UK Gatherings. I won't go too heavily into the reasoning behind this here, but suffice to say: what does a national gathering if held in Scotland or Wales mean?
2. Can I suggest one of the headings under 'Get Involved' (NOT under National Gatherings) is Regional Gatherings, and that this can be a page linking to sub-pages of all regions currently holding regional gatherings. On each region's subpage it can include details of their next planned regional gathering, minutes from previous ones, and whatever else they feel useful.
3. This obviously means that regional gatherings are removed from the National Gatherings (or rather UK Gatherings pages), which would return it to simply being 'Next National Gathering', Minutes from previous gatherings, and Guide to Running a Gathering.
4. For 'next national gathering', I'll write some content for this page and send it to website at climatecamp.org.uk for someone with the power to update. I'll try and do this tonight.
5. Minutes from previous gatherings. This is quite a long a tedious job probably, and so like I say, with training from Jon I'm happy to be the one to do it. But, it was raised at a process meeting that we the current links to minutes should link not to pdf's of the full minutes, but subpages of key decisions (and these can link to the pdf). This is responding to concerns we had about transparency of decisions. Like I say, I'm happy to do this.
6. Working Groups: I'd suggest this page should be stripped down to only those working groups currently in active operation (ie not camp only groups). I'm happy to put something together for this, again will try by tonight.
7. Local Groups: I'd suggest this page is still very much needed in addition to the regional gathering pages, because groups meeting weekly (ie Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Reading) are different to the regional gathering process (Up North, TVCA). I'd suggest for this, Process Group puts out a message to neighbourhoods and via newsletter encouraging them to send us updated content for the local page. This could also be an opportunity to de-camp-centric the local group section away from camp neighbourhoods and
There, that's all for now. The thinking behind these changes are how best to respond to our developing network. At the gathering we acknowledged we are in a trial period, and therefore there still are process questions: ie what is the relationship between local groups and regional gatherings? How formalised will the regional gathering process become? But hopefully this addresses the way things currently are.
In terms of process, I understand you have the 24 period to ensure all are ok with an idea. Thoughts of these ideas would be great in the meantime (that goes for process list folk as well!)
Bradxx
