I've sent them both a message. Trying to tie up loose ends before I go.

On another note, the index.html file of that site has the embed code to
embed video from london or northern indymedia, which I'm copying below.
Can I please (pretty please) ask that any new videos are posted to one
of those sites (both of which have mod_removeip installed) and embedded
from there. This is to protect visitors anonymity and not provide the
powers that be with the home addresses of all visitors, which is a real
risk with youtube, vimeo and blip.tv which don't anonymise IP addresses
of visitors.

Even if the folks behind vimeo or blip are pretty cool, it doesn't help
if their server is seized or an official request goes in for that
information. Indymedia is set up for exactly this kind of scenario, as
we're asking people to indicate they are willing to take part in a
direct action.

So naturally, just replace the address of the video, in this case
http://www.northern-indymedia.org/system/video/2010/09/03/933/ribs_2.mp4.flv
with the name of the file you want to embed.

To figure this out, do the following (this is the same for Northern,
Nottingham and London Indymedia sites)

Upload the video to the site by hitting the "Publish" button on the
front page, then selecting "Upload a video" (It will take a while for a
big file naturally)

When it is published, you will be taken to the viewer screen for that
video. select "view page source" in the firefox "view" menu.

Halfway down that page is the code for the viewer which will include a
line that looks like this:

so.addVariable('file','/system/video/2010/09/03/933/ribs_2.mp4.flv');


so just add the website url eg http://northern-indymedia.org to the bit
which starts /system/video (making sure it ends in .flv) and replace
this with the code above.

Bit of a faff (I'm going to write a bit of code which makes embedding
easier by generating the code on the view page soon) but think of all
the arrests you'll potentially be preventing! Not to say don't put it on
youtube etc as well, just that its a REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD IDEA to
embed from there :-)
