One thing, to whom should groups send proposals for the programme/process? cheers, Nicola

On 22 oct. 2010, at 14:46, Susann Scherbarth wrote:

Hi,
Susi from FoE Europe here.
Nice to read some rumors about the CJ assembly and information are
spread. ;-)

Just to comment on few things:
-CJA Belgium was quite enthusiastic in being involved in the CJ
assembly end November in Brussels.

-we heard that some people from CJA belgium will join the next
meeting on preparing the assembly next week Tuesday (6pm in Mundo
B in Brussels. Everyone is welcome who wanna contribute to the
assembly).

-The whole organization of the event is happening in an open
process and more concrete ideas and proposals are more than
welcome. Hopefully next week for the meeting we will show the
first draft of the programme where people can comment. So hope
some people from CJA will join this process as well. Maybe it
seems to be uncertain because we started to implement the assembly
idea quite late.

-the assembly is an opportunity for people to meet and debate
about different areas on climate justice and to build and
strengthen our CJ movement - in Europe.

-We wanna give a sign - in form of a statement - to Cancun, which
is starting directly afterwards.

-and Young Friends of the Earth (and other European youth) will
join the assembly and will organize activities inBrussels the
following 2 weeks when the COP is happening in Cancun. Rapid
response actions, debates, workshops, socializing, meet, drink and
other things.

Sorry for being rather short.
Hope that clarifies a bit, but am happy to answer more questions.
Cheers,

We had a long discussion about this during our last skype
meeting.

So far we know that LVC is having a meeting before the
assembly and will probably give a workshop during the assembly
itself, they're also finding the space, but haven't yet become
involved in the 'political' aspects of planning. FoE Europe and
another climate and social justice group in Belgium are the
other groups calling for the assembly.

In terms of "what" it is: the actual content and process of
the assembly is fairly uncertain. Vaguely, there will be a day
of workshops, some kind of demo, a message to leaders at the COP
and an attempt to define more clearly what climate justice is .
We talked a bit about how CJA could engage with the event, but
we obviously need more information as it becomes available. I'm
waiting to talk to someone from CJA Belgium about what their
role has been, or will be. I think some information is going to
be sent to the list soon about what their plans are. Overall, it
seemed like there was encouragement for CJA to somehow be
present at the assembly, and that this would make the process
'better.'

In the last skype meeting we agreed to have a meeting in the
next 2 weeks specifically about this and the next CJA meeting.
It would be nice if we could get a nice sized group together to
discuss. And if anyone has more info, send it through the list?

Oh yeah - just read the call properly. Duh. LVC involved
which means it has some credibility!
More information about this event would be great then,
So do we have an update about who is calling for this
assembly, and what it actually is?

Cheers,
