<DIV class=ecxReadMsgBody>This summer, the third Belgian climate action camp will take place in Antwerp. The last years, a very important popular struggle has taken place in Antwerp against plans to build a gigantic bridge right above the poorest area of the city, closing the ring way around Antwerp. Railways of 16 strokes, huge traffic above densely populated areas, and the disappearance of some of the last green parts of Antwerp would have been the result. A number of grassroots organisations and movements have been campaigning for years against this project. They were able to push the city government to organise a referendum on the issue, which the social movements have decisively won. However, the city council is still trying to realise the project in a different version, with a number of tunnels with equally devastating effects. They want to impose even more traffic on a city which has already become unlivable due to daily traffic jams. Therefore, a number of protesting groups have taken recourse to more radical forms of action. The climate camp is an important event in this framework. </DIV>
<DIV class=ecxReadMsgBody>It will be a week of exchange, debate and direct action against new roads being built, but also against nuclear energy and emissions trading. We want the camp to be as international as possible, so you're all invited. We will use English as often as possible (English has become the lingua franca between Dutch and French-speaking Belgians). <H2>Klimaatactiekamp juli 2011</H2>Het kapitalisme is een systeem in crisis. De sociale ongelijkheid groeit, de banken en multinationals blijven investeren in fossiele brandstoffen. Maar er is ook reden tot optimisme: de mondiale klimaatbeweging groeit en wordt steeds actiever. <STRONG>"System change, not climate change" is een boodschap die steeds luider klinkt!</STRONG><BR><STRONG>Climate Justice Action</STRONG> lag de voorbije jaren aan de basis van een reeks directe acties en <A href="http://www.indymedia.be/index.html?q=node/34352.html" target=_blank>twee klimaatactiekampen</A>. De openingsdag van de klimaatonderhandelingen in Cancún <A href="http://www.dewereldmorgen.be/video/2010/11/30/klimaatactivisten-tegen-klimaat-business" target=_blank>bezetten we nog de lokalen van IETA</A>, een lobbygroep voor emissiehandel.<BR>Dit jaar kozen we om ons klimaatactiekamp te koppelen aan de lokale strijd die in Antwerpen gevoerd wordt rond de Oosterweelverbinding. <STRONG>In samenwerking met <A href="http://www.groenoord.be/" target=_blank>GroeNoord</A> en andere partners (Ademloos, Climaxi, Climat et Justice Sociale, Masereelfonds en anderen), komt er dit jaar opnieuw een klimaatactiekamp in Antwerpen</STRONG>. Thematisch zal er in het bijzonder aandacht hebben voor de gevolgen van wegeninfrastructuur voor de leefbaarheid van Antwerpen. <BR>Ook andere thema's die te maken hebben met klimaatrechtvaardigheid komen aan bod op het kamp: van kernenergie tot veganistisch koken, van emissiehandel tot "hoe feminisme de planeet kan redden".<BR>Het Klimaatactiekamp wordt <STRONG>een week vol interessante workshops, ontmoetingen, ecologisch leven en directe actie</STRONG>. <H2>Camp Action Climat Juillet 2011</H2>Le capitalisme est un système en crise. Les inégalités sociales grandissent, les multinationales continuent à investir dans les énergies fossiles,... Malgré tout il y a quand même une raison de se réjouir: le mouvement pour le climat prend d'ampleur et devient de plus en plus actif. <STRONG>"System change, not climate change" est un message qui résonne de plus en plus fort!</STRONG><BR><STRONG>Climate Justice Action</STRONG> était à l'initiative de plusieurs action directes et <A href="http://www.indymedia.be/index.html?q=node/34352.html" target=_blank>deux camps action climat</A>. Le premier jour des négociations du sommet de Cancún, nous avons <A href="http://www.dewereldmorgen.be/video/2010/11/30/klimaatactivisten-tegen-klimaat-business" target=_blank>occupé les bureaux d'IETA</A>, een lobby en faveur du marché des émissions.<BR>Cet année nous avons choisi de lier le camp action climat à la lutte locale contre la liaison autoroutière Oosterweel. <STRONG>En coopération avec <A href="http://www.groenoord.be/" target=_blank>GroeNoord</A> et autres partenaires (Ademloos, Climaxi, Climat et Justice Sociale, Masereelfonds et autres), il y aura de nouveau un Camp Action Climat à Anvers</STRONG>. Le thème central, c'est les conséquences des infrastructures routières pour la qualité de vie à Anvers.<BR>Aussi d'autres thèmes liés à la justice climatique auront une place au camp: le nucléaire, le marché des émissions, la cuisine végane, "comment le féminisme peut sauver la planète",...<BR>Le Camp Action Climat est <STRONG>une semaine d'ateliers, rencontres, vivre écologique et action directe</STRONG>. <H2>Climate action camp 2011</H2>Capitalism is a system in crisis. Social injustice is increasing, the banks and multinationals keep investing in fossil fuels. But there is also reason to be optimistic: the global climate movement is growing and getting more active. <STRONG>"System change, not climate change" is a message sounding louder and louder! </STRONG><BR>In the past, <STRONG>Climate Justice Action</STRONG> (Belgium) organized of a series of direct actions and <A href="http://www.indymedia.be/index.html?q=node/34352.html" target=_blank>two climate action camps</A>. At the opening day of the UN Conference in Cancún, we occupied the offices of IETA, a lobbygroep for emission trading.<BR>This year we chose to link the climate action camp to the local struggle in Antwerp against the 'Oosterweel' bridge/tunnel plans. <STRONG>In cooperation with <A href="http://www.groenoord.be/" target=_blank>GroeNoord</A> and other partners (Ademloos, Climaxi, Climat et Justice Sociale, Masereelfonds and others), there will be a new climate action camp in Antwerp</STRONG>. Our main focus will be on the the consequenses of road infrastructure for the quality of life in Antwerp. <BR>We'll also work around other climate-related themes: from nuclear energy, to vegan cooking, from 'cap and trade' to 'how feminism can save the planet?'<BR>The climate action camp will be <STRONG>a week full of interesting workshops, encounters, direct action, and an ecological way of living</STRONG>. But most of all, it'll be fun! Make sure to write down the dates in your agenda. We are also still looking for people who want to help with the preperation of the camp.
