Info/Research Sub-group resume of meeting on
14/12/04
Present: John, Tom, Paul, Ollie, Sofia, Tim
Apols: Mark
1. Update on factsheets
Authors gave updates & comments were made/notes taken
by authors.
IMF/WB/WTO (Sofia) IMF draft done; WTO being drafted
by Sofias friend; WB underway.
Climate Change (Mark) author has family distractions
& little time. Tom to ask Crash if he would do it.
PFI (Ollie) only just been able to start on it.
Sustainability, or sustainable development (Tom)
draft done. Some local examples to be added.
G8 governance (Paul) draft done looking at origin of
G8 & how it works; still to do how decisions drill
down locally.
Africa/debt etc (Tim) outline draft done & sources
identified. To be written up.
Film (John) synopsis/crew/funding being sorted. This
film will be for after the G8 summit, including
footage of events at/around the summit. Tom still
considering a short calls to action type film.
General keep factsheets to 2 sides A4 if poss;
shouldnt read as rants or articles ie use bullet
points, numbering, short statements, facts; Paul
offering to do layout of them to give em some
consistency; circulate drafts on this list; aim to
complete early in new year.
Another possibility is a jargon explained sheet
2. Possible dayschool
We have the wider groups agreement to proceed with
this. Looking at a date in late March (Sat 19 or 26?).
There is a national IMC event in Bristol possibly in
March, and from 10 16 April there is a week of
action by people linked to trade justice - with a
workshop day in Bristol on 16th.
Need a venue for the day (10 to 6pm?) that would give
us space to run 3 or 4 workshops concurrently, perhaps
3 times ie 9 to 12 workshops in total, plus time at
start/finish for general gathering. Possibles are
Trinity, Easton CC, St Werburghs CC, Silai, CEED,
Centre for Deaf. Any others what about colleges?
Idealy would have a kitchen where we can provide food
cheap. Entrance should be free/donation.
Tim showed a list of suggested workshops I will put
this on the Bristol list so all can see it & discuss
at next group meet on 4 January.
3. Next sub-group meeting not sure if we agreed 11
or 18 January, 6pm @ Kebele. Any preferences?
