ok, I never found time to do template/css as I said I would.
I got bogged down in resurrecting my server after it was broken into,
and defaced, actually via dissent site but they did not target it
directly just as I failed to patch insecurity in mambocms in time and
also I was running an old kernel that allowed them to get root. All
executables have been restored from fresh sources. And things built back
up. And all cms are now running latest versions with hopefully no more
know exploits in them.
I have no idea when I might find time to do it.
But more pressing thing is to see if people want to use the site. And
how editorial will be handled.
I will post to main dissent list about this.
Basically people need to sign up on site and post texts for site as they
get a submit news link which mean contribute text via web form for front
page. Text from newsletter for starters. We do need something other than
just PGA hallmarks on the site.
And there needs to be people that approve them which for now is me and
steve, but I don't see why this can not be anyone who is involved to a
certain degree in dissent network can not be given access to do this if
they want.
I saw bit in mins of brighton meeting mentioning the site.
Think is to make sure site remains balanced and one local group does not
add loads of stuff while other don't use it.
Also does every bit of text have to go by network?
Also I heard via someone that steve had expressed an interest in a wiki
for site. I would set up Moin wiki as I already have set up server wide
and just need to add vhost entries and config files for dissent.org.uk
domain. Being server wide means it gets updated server wide not for each
wiki which is easier for me. So if network wants this I can set up.
I can set up sub domains of dissent for local groups who want them who
don't already have own websites, these can be hosted on my server or
pointed elsewhere.
But does network want this?

I have no problem with it too but if we have a logo for title as now I
would put into template/css from scratch rather than the hack at moment
that means it is misleading named as background to title. It does not
make any difference to how viewers see site, but just goes against my
desire for elegance in naming in templates/css and ease of understanding
when looking at them.
bye for now,
