Friday 29th April... 7pm til 9.30pm


It will be a night of know-how..short films...inspiration..bout democracy
to inform of issues before the elections..the first of a new series
exploring issues connected with the G8 in a fun and light hearted way..get
clued up without getting bored!

the night will include:

looking at how democracy was fought for and battled for ie Chartists,
sufferagettes, Free Trade Hall etc

Secondly how democracy has been corrupted ie corporate involvement, mass
media corrpution, "neo-con democratisation" of the third world.

Finally looking at alternatives to voting such as community participation
and direct action.

with short films to illustrate the points and to inspire mixed in..


its free entry (though donations towards the manchester G8 group will be
gladly recieved!).

Everyone is welcome.

Please be aware that we are having this event in an alcohol and smoke free
venue to ensure accessibility for all (am sure everyone will be going to a
pub afterwards to continue chatting..)
