Hi, Is anyone else having problems accessing the
Dissent! website? I couldn't open it yesterday and the
problem seems to be the same today. Any info?

Yes. The server on which it was on was broken into on Sunday 18th. It
was not target particularly, and was to set up fake website for using
phishing scams.

On being discovered on Monday evening the server was shutdown.

On Tuesday the server was reimaged (by hosting company), and was being
restored from local backup.

But due to the reimage setup being very divergent from previous this was
taking time.

Unfortunaly on trying to reset up server  upgrading and reconfiguring
packages, lead to changes that means the server has failed to reboot. 
This can only be sorted out with physically probably with new reimaging.

Now situation is that this server was due to be discontinued next month
anyway and sites set up on a new server anyway.

We have off sites backup (both filesystem and db dump) from sat/Sunday
night. And can restore on new hosting from these.

After checking to see if need upgrading to latest secure version.

Someone has offer temp hosting for now. One of places it was being
backed up to over G8. If anyway one has a perm place for it to hand now
do say.

The dissent site is one of many hosted on that server, and I am having
to deal with allot over this.

Feel free to ring me if you have my number to discuss this, to ask me
more. I am usually out on a day.

Also we have yet to discuss future of the website. I think it should
preserve a record of G8 mobilisation and after math, promote G8 stuff
happening in Russia.
