Hi All,

Two things that may be of interest to you on the subject of *divestment*:

1. As many of you probably know, the university is currently holding a
consultation on fossil fuel divestment.
Those of you who are staff at the university can write an email to
*durham.divestment at durham.ac.uk* with your opinions/evidence - this
would be fantastic as your opinion would be highly valued. It doesn't
have to be particularly long or thought-out if you don't have time, so
it would only take a few minutes.

While they've advertised they're looking for opinions from staff,
students and alumni, there's a chance for everyone else to get involved
too!
There's an*anonymous online survey* on the matter here:

Please go ahead and voice your opinions. Feel free to state you're part
of Transition Durham, and let them know why your opinion counts too.

They're asking for the answers to these two questions:
Q1. Do you believe that Durham University should divest from companies
involved in fossil fuel extraction? Please provide reasons for your
response.
Q2. Do you believe Durham University should invest in companies involved
in fossil fuel extraction if they are also involved in renewable and
green technologies? Please provide reasons for your response.

(the second question being pretty redundant, in the sense that all big
extraction companies have at least some investment in renewables, to
cover their backs)

2. On the university's page for the divestment consultation, it says:

'Dr Amanda Ellison and Kate Deeming will host a*town hall meeting on the
16th December* 2016, 12.00 - 13.00, Kenworthy Hall, St Mary's College.
All welcome.'

If any of you can come along to this, please do! It's going to be hard
for students to attend (perhaps organised so on purpose) as it's in the
middle of the day on the last day of term, so having some of Transition
Durham there to support divestment would be amazing.

If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to email me at
pippa-jo.cameron at durham.ac.uk.

Thanks for reading,
Pj
