Public Meeting - Portobello this meeting went well despite driving rain
and wind!
4 Councillors attended and seemed concerned!
I think the recent defeat over the tendering for organisations which support
people with learning difficulties and mental health problems has perhaps
alerted Councillors to their constituents anger over privatisation of public
services.
At the Public meeting, we heard from a carer whose husband has dementia.
She's had great difficulties in securing what she feels is decent; reliable
care for him.
She repeated many times that it wasn't the fault of staff but the pressures
they were having to work under; the lack of cover etc.
This was backed up by a member of staff from Carewatch who spoke of awful
working conditions and, as he saw it, emotional blackmail amongst other
things
Our next "cttee" meeting is Wed 2cd Dec. 6pm-7pm at Council Chambers
All Welcome
