*Edinburgh Care Campaign*

Hi brothers/sisters The campaign needs your experiences; information etc.

Management of the services for the elderly and disabled are confident that
their info is convincing the public; the councillors etc. that the Homecare
Modernisation is providing a better service while saving millions.

We know that's not true.

Earlier this week I heard a homecarer who'd been working with an elderly
woman who needs to be encouraged to eat. This has not been happening and
she's lost 2 stones.

Her family is very worried.

She's in bed sometimes from 6pm – 12am the following day.

Where is her “choice”; her rights?

Recently I heard that Re-able is shortlisted for an award – promoted by the
Glasgow Herald Social affairs section.

We need counter publicity.

We welcome all information but we're particularly interested in hearing
about people who have been through Re-able and their care has then been
placed with the private sector.

We struggle to find these situations as the Council care staff are no longer
involved.

But we know from e.g. members of the public we meet at stalls that the care
is not satisfactory.

It would help the campaign greatly if we had examples of poor care.

All info and your details will be sent to a confidential e-mail address.

Thanks Marlyn Tweedie
