The campaign is organising a public meeting;
details as follows - Wed. 25th Nov. '09
7pm
Old Parish Church, Bellfield Street, Portobello
Speakers John Murdoch - disabled activist and a speaker from unison
Last Saturday we had a stall in Portobello High Street - opposite the Town
Hall.
We got a positive response; the issue of privatisation of care remains
deeply unpopular with many people despite the recession.
Many have experience of the difficulties; risks etc.
We'll have a public stall this Sat. 11am-2pm Please come along if you
can - even for a short time -
Anyone who has any time, please get in touch.
We need to talk to; leaflet etc as many places in Portobello as we can
Libraries; cafes; pubs; shops; community centres; churches; centres for
elderly; door- to door leafletting etc.
An hour or two can really help get the word out.
We'll tell the local councillors and invite them to the meeting
We'll try and get to the Community Council - in fact any relevant
organisation.
If anyone has any suggestions; info as to who we should contact please get
in touch.
'phone Marlyn 07811185610
Please try and come to the meeting and help the campaign
Tonight's Eve News has an article about the tendering of support services
for adults with learning disabilities.
I'll try and attach it but if it doesn't work, the title is disabled and
elderly forced to find new carers.
You'll be able to google it
