Care Homes "put patients at risk" with feeding tube stance This is the
title of an article in Eve. News Wed. 6th Jan. '10
It is truly the stuff of nightmares.
It describes an accusation that care homes are closing their doors to
elderly residents who are NOT being fed by a feeding tube inserted into
their stomachs.
In other words the care homes want to admit people only people who are fed
by a tube inserted into their stomach.
According to the article, the authors of a Royal College of Physicians
report say that "although they claim to be acting in patient's interests,
the motive may be to cut costs and save on staffing"
The article didn't mention any care homes but the idea is frightening and
there must be some evidence for it.
Google the article if you can. It's by John Von Radowitz
If anyone can post it on this e-mail, that would be great.
Could anyone teach me how to get the article on the e-mail so that you can
just click on a website?
I need to be able to do this!
