[Edinburgh-carecampaign] Homecare Campaign

Our next campaign meeting is this Wed. 25th May  6pm Pendolina Room; City
Chambers.

We're attempting, over the next month or 2 , to gather info re. poor
practice in Homecare.


It's worth googling  the front page article in The Herald  Sat 21st May '11
titled "Police called in as woman dies in city care home"
Also on page 8, "Councils prepare for worst as care homes face crisis"

Both articles are about the carehomes sector and the awful consequences of
privatisation and all the cost-cutting and risk taking it brings.

Southern Cross,which owns approx 90 homes in Scotland made a loss of
£21million in 6 months to March '11.

The residents in these homes face the threat of their homes closing. This is
unacceptable  but it's what happens when the needs of vulnerable people are
opened up to the market.
