[Educationforall] Is there no hope for our people?

Are we doomed to live
on the lookout for the border patrol/ICE/INS? 



Yesterday, my little
sister, a fifteen-year-old mother, was on her way to the mountains hoping to
find some snow. Instead, she found the border patrol. She was treated like a
criminal and was immediately taken to the border. She is underage and they told
her if she did not sign the documents saying that she was willingly leaving,
they would take her baby away and send her to jail. She was deported and is now
in Tijuana, her year old baby is here without her mother and needs her.


The fact that she is
an immigrant does not make her a criminal, and that is what she was treated
like. Has the border patrol lost the little humanity they had left? They are
now treating immigrant teenagers like criminals as if we consciously chose to
come to the United States knowing that it is illegal. We did not choose to come
here. We were brought here by our parents hoping we would have a better life,
my parents like many others, brought us here so that we could get a higher
education. Unfortunately, by the time we realize we are “illegal” and it is
harder for us to pay for college, we have lived here too long to go back to our
country. 



Even if you are not
an immigrant, sometimes as long as you look like one, they harass you and ask
for proof of citizenship. 



It is time to stop
this terrorism, they are terrorizing families, adults and now children. We,
immigrants are the result of the decisions made by this government. Them with their
great prosperous ideas such as NAFTA, CAFTA, “free trade”, industrialization of
third world countries (as they call them), and their involvement with external
affairs that do nothing but exploit the land and people and bring wealth only to the rich. They mess up with
society and culture in other countries and when the effects of those actions
affect this side of the border they bleach the media making us look like we are
the problem, when in fact it is them.


When is this going to
stop? When they come up with a tactic to take us all out or when we get tired of
the oppression? They have tried taking the adults out and since that is not
working they are starting with the teenagers.
