Hello EFA,

Below is a link to a Free Speech Toolkit provided by the Center for Campus Free Speech (www.campusspeech.org).  I found it located on the democratizingeducation.org website.  You'll also find it attached to this email for your convenience.  The statement on the website regarding the toolkit is as follows: The Free Speech Organizing Toolkit is designed to provide campus
leaders and free speech supporters with the tools to work with higher
education leaders to remove impediments to a marketplace of ideas on
their campus.

Most of us have a limited understanding of our rights to freedom of speech.  Especially in the wake of the changes occurring since the events of 9/11.  Institutions and authorities often maintain vague policies regarding the rights of free speech for public locations, and public educational institutions for that matter which often maintain "free speech" zones.  This provides essential insight into the definitions of speech and our constitutional and lawful rights regarding it, both in a practical and relevant matter as it relates to education.  As we engage in rallies, protests, marches, and actions we must be properly prepared for the responses from those which we are confronting.  

"This toolkit is not intended as an exhaustive review of First Amendment law or every type of potentially
unconstitutional campus policy. Instead, it is a toolkit intended to provide members of the campus community
with a basic review of the types of policies that most often restrict student speech on campus and the tools to
work with campus leaders to remove those impediments within their campus or university system’s process.
While certainly, there have been and will continue to be a limited number of cases where students have no
choice but to go to the legal system, it is often faster, easier and builds more long term support for an open
campus environment to instead convince decision-makers to remove impediments to free speech on their
own."
