NATIONAL CITY — The National School District is preparing for a teachers’ strike.

 

The union — known formally as the National City Elementary Teacher’s Association — voted on Thursday to authorize a strike, union President Linda Cartwright said.

 

On Monday, the school board unanimously passed an emergency resolution authorizing Superintendent Chris Oram to begin recruiting substitute teachers should a strike occur. The board also authorized the district to close a school or suspend programs if necessary.
