RNs, Lead Community Rally in NY June 22 to "Heal America"
Demand Wall Street Pay for Damage Done to Main Street
Registered nurses, joined by labor and community leaders and activists, will rally in front of the New York Stock Exchange Wednesday, June 22, as part of an International Day of Action, called by the European Trade Union Confederation. Events are scheduled throughout Europe in support of a tax on the buying and selling of stocks, bonds, credit default swaps, derivatives, and other major financial transactions. Great Britain and a number of other nations have such a tax, which has also been endorsed by the European Parliament.
In the U.S., hundreds of billions of dollars could be raised every year through such fees – revenue needed to create jobs, and fund healthcare, education, housing and repair the harm to Main Street communities so devastated by the abuses of Wall Street speculation.

Nurses’ Main Street Campaign to Rebuild America
Mister Cellophane 'Cause you can look right through me, Walk right by me, and never know I'm there... -- Chicago (the musical)
In every city and town across America today there is a "Mr. Cellophane," as the musical Chicago put it, and other men, women, and children who seem to have become invisible to those who set policy in Washington and to the financiers on Wall Street who put them in the shadows.
But America's nurses do hear their voices, see their faces, and feel their pain, and as 1,000 registered nurses rallying in Washington this week declared, "We are going to make their suffering visible" and demand a change.

We continue collecting stories from Main Street about how the economic crisis is affecting you, your patients, and your communities. We plan to share the stories of everyday people on our websites, social networks, and in the news media, as the collective voice of Main Street Americans.
If you have not yet done so, please share your story here
