San  Diego Democratic Women’s Club to Recognize Assemblymember Marty Block 
as Leader  of the Year 
SAN DIEGO, Calif.  The San Diego Democratic Women’s Club (SDDWC) will 
present its inaugural  Leader of the Year Award to 78th District Assemblymember 
Marty Block at the  Club’s Annual Student Scholarship Fundraising Tea on 
Sunday, April  10th, 2011. 
The SDDWC Leader of the  Year Award honors an individual “who  has made a 
positive and lasting difference in San Diego County’s educational,  
political, business or community endeavors that will qualitatively enhance the  life 
chances and opportunities of women and girls.” According to SDDWC Club  
President Pat Washington, “Assembly-member Block was the unanimous choice for  
our 2011 award because of his committed and determined efforts to protect and 
 promote access to higher education for local San Diego students.”   
Created in 2006, the San Diego Democratic Women’s Club  Student Scholarship 
Tea raises funds for an annual scholarship given in honor of  SDDWC 
President Emerita Verna King.    This year’s Tea will be held  from 1pm-3pm at the 
Logan Heights Library, located at 567 South 29th  Street, San Diego, CA 
92113.

Tickets are $30 per  guest before April 5th, $35.00 thereafter. Checks 
should be made  payable to the SDDWC and mailed to 4537 Alamo Drive, San Diego,
