What House Republican leaders are doing this week is infuriating and their priorities are upside down. This week Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) is leading an effort to impose even more ruthless cuts immediately to critical domestic programs. Under the plan, unemployment benefits would be cut off until applicants are nearly broke and millions of working families would be denied a child tax credit. They’re cutting these programs to pay for tax breaks for millionaires. As House leaders cut $7.8 billion in funding for the child tax credit, they’re putting the same amount into a new tax break for millionaires. It’s shameful. The House will vote on the Ryan Budget Reconciliation package soon. Take action now to stop it.
You might recall that last August, House leaders signed on to a "debt ceiling agreement," but not before sending the American economy to the brink of default. This week they’re flat out rejecting that agreement so they can shield millionaires and wealthy corporations from contributing even one cent toward the $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction measures they were supposed to enact. This is an appalling piece of legislation and would needlessly hurt working class families. Urge your member of Congress to vote against this bill (the Ryan Budget Reconciliation package). Tell them to make millionaires and wealthy corporations pay their fair share. Contact your Representative now. In solidarity, Chuck LovelessDirector, AFSCME Federal Government Affairs

[FarmworkerDocumentation] TIME TO WORK ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY PROJECT / NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE
GREETINGS to Friends/Supporters:A few months ago, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the 1962 founding of the farmworker movement, 25 former UFWvolunteers signed up to provide a "chapter of documentation" about their involvement. To date, 13 chapters have been received and I am hopeful that at least another 6 will materialize. I am ready to begin the work of organizing these "chapters of documentation" and posting them to the website of the Farmworker Movement Documentation Project. (farmworkermovement.us)
The cost for this 50th Anniversary Project will be $3500 (+/-) . . . much of the cost is related to tech support and the need to overhaul and update the site, including some necessary redesign work to showcase these new "chapters of documentation" . (Of course, you realize I do not charge for any of my time). The Documentation Project does not have the $3500 to afford this major addition and, sad to report, I myself do not have the money . . . SO . . . I have decided to borrow the $3500 with the understanding that enough friends/supporters will chip in so I can pay the loan back. Based on my previous experience, it will take 40 contributions to pay off the loan.I hope you will consider being one of these contributors. Donations can be made via the "DONATE" link on the Home Page of the website OR if you prefer: make a check payable to; FMDP and send it to: LeRoy Chatfield / 5131 Pleasant Drive / Sacramento CA 95822. I will keep you updated about the progress of the 50th Anniversary Project - I think you will be amazed at some of the documentation materials I have received (I was!). Please chip in, if you can . . . Have a nice Spring, LeRoy Chatfield / Publisher / Farmworker Movement Documentation Project (FMDP)p.s. some of you may know I also publish the Syndic Literary Journal. A new issue - Syndic No. 6 - was published April 1,2012. For those interested in literary work from authors/artists at home and abroad, I believe you will especially appreciate this issue.

LeRoy Chatfield LeRoy Chatfield publishes: "Farmworker Movement Documentation Project"(farmworkermovement.us); "Easy Essays" (leroychatfield.us); "Syndic Literary Journal" (syndicjournal.us); and Don Edwards Literary Memorial (donedwardsmemorial.us)Sacramento CA.
