Hi All,
The email below is a month old and is just now appearing on this list for some reason, but I'm still willing to help out :). Specifically, I'll be trying to get a resolution passed to support March 4th at the Labor Council (they know about it now). Also, the CFT has approved a seven week march to Sacramento which leaves from LA on March the 5th and arrives in Sacramento on April 20th to be followed by a huge rally in the capital. There is already interest from labor across the state, community groups, student groups, etc. Everyone is welcome to participate in a variety of ways from coming to march a day or so to going to the rallies on the front and/or back ends. More news on this later. In solidarity, Jim Miller, AFT Local 1931
Hi All,
While I cannot attend this meeting, I can let you know that with regard to
point #4 AFT Local 1931 is aware of the event and supportive as I mentioned
at the meeting I attended before Thanksgiving. I have recently spoken to
SDEA president Camille Zombro (represents all K-12 teachers in San DIego) and
SD/Imperial Valley Labor Council Secretary General Lorena Gonzales about
additional events that CFT (that's our statewide organization) is planning
for late March and early April. I also mentioned the March 4th events and
neither of them had heard any word of it, although I think they would be
supportive. I would be happy to help with letting them know more about what
you are doing as I have frequent contact with them and sit in on the E Board
of the Labor Council and serve as a delegate to the Labor Council. I also
work with other public sector union folks and community activists across the
city on a regular basis. Just let me know when you have your local agenda
down and what you'd like me to do, if anything. Happy holidays.
