education</span>. Although largely ignored by the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1268169793_2" style="border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer; ">mainstream media</span>, the walk-outs, rallies and demonstrations of March 4th powerfully signaled the entrance of a new generation of young people into politics. But the crisis of the university and of the entire system of public education is bound up with a far broader social crisis of international scope, which includes ongoing and impending imperialist wars, unprecedented levels of <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1268169793_3">social inequality</span>, and the political hegemony of an obtuse and parasitic financial elite. The legitimate interests and aspirations of working people, including students, are coming into sharper conflict with the reality of a decaying social system. </p><p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right:
