<DIV>Here's a brief summary of this week's meeting of the May 1st Coalition San Diego:</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>ROUTE & TIMES defined!! Meet at Chicano Park at 11am, depart at 12pm (noon), march on Logan Avenue, 16th Street (homeless join @ 16 & Island), left on Market Street, right on 1st Avenue, circle the building, arrive at 880 Front Street (Federal Building) at around 1pm.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Several other points were discussed:</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>- a Plan B (as in "Broadway") route was defined in case there is a large number of people marching;</DIV>
<DIV>- logistics committee will notify San Diego Police about the event;</DIV>
<DIV>- media committee: press release text proposal was submitted to group discussion (improvements to be made - Bruno, Ivan, Cynara);</DIV>
<DIV>- need to collect funds for printing flyers & posters (America G. started the collection);</DIV>
<DIV>- a call for a 'spending boycott' on May 1st was approved by a 9-6 vote;</DIV>
<DIV>- proposal to protest in front of a bank; (Norma)</DIV>
<DIV>- discussion on AB 540 ('California Dream Act');</DIV>
<DIV>- discussion about attacks on UCSD professor/activist R. Dominguez; (Rick might contact him?)</DIV>
<DIV>- Jeeni had a proposal about the name of the event, but she had to leave early;</DIV>
<DIV>- outreach: planning pre-May-1st student forum at City College (Diana, contact person);</DIV>
<DIV>- report back from Centro Cultural de la Raza and evening event; call for artists (Fernanda, contact person);</DIV>
