From shameless union-busting, to attacks on pensions, to demonization of teachers, to the scapegoating of immigrants, the 1% is seeking to weaken and divide the 99% to make us pay for their economic crisis and failing system.<br>
<br>This Mayday will be a show of the strength of the working class--the union rank and file, unorganized workers, unemployed workers, immigrant and migrant workers, workers with disabilities, excluded workers, LGBT workers, and all other sections of the majority voice of the 99%. </b></span><span style="color:#ff0000"><b><span style="font-size:14px"><span>May 1st will allow us to reclaim our power--the power that drives the economy --AND-- the power that can shut it down</span>. </span></b></span><span style="color:#000000"><b>This May 1st will be a crucial step in re-building International Workers Day and the spirit of solidarity and struggle.<br>
<br>Immigrant workers have played an important role in re-building the labor movement in the U.S. in the last few years. They have revitalized sectors of the union movement and organized and participated in the strikes and mass marches of 2006 that touched off a national movement for immigrant rights and labor rights. Through their actions, they have also revived May Day--International Workers Day--as a holiday once again celebrated in the United States, the place where it began.<br>
<br>Today, the renewed struggle for the revitalization of the labor movement has been given a boost through unity with the Occupy Wall Street Movement. By identifying the common interests of the 99% against the 1%, there is potential for uniting the whole working class against injustice, inequality, discrimination--all maintained for the sake of increasing profits for the 1%.<br>
