Hey everyone -
I just wanted to introduce myself since i have been unable to make it to the
two volunteer meetings, yet i am still interested in working on making the
Flying Brick an awesome resource in Richmond. My name is Nicole, I am one
of the Richmond Zine Fest organizers and i run Click Clack Distro. I write
a personal zine called Introvert and I've been involved with zines since
about 1996.
I work a 9 to 5 Mon - Fri job and i live in Chesterfield so i do have
limited time in which i can come to meetings & work at the library, but that
does not skew my passion for zines or wanting a zine library to thrive in
Richmond.
I have seen from the minutes posted that one of the goals for the space is
to be inclusive... which makes me really excited. At times i think some
people have the notion that zines are just for younger radical folks who
dress weird and have funny hair. :) Zines are for everyone. Old and
Young, Radical and not, etc etc and i think it'd be awesome to have a space
where people wouldn't feel excluded if they came to read zines in khakis and
a polo shirt vs. dreads and an old band shirt.
Please keep me in the loop and let me know if there is anything i can do.
I have a really large internet mouth and super international zine scene
connections and i can definitely get the word out on getting donations and
such.
If we do flyers for donations, please throw some my way for all my distro
packages!
