Flying Brick General Meeting 05/16/2010

Hope these notes make sense; lemme know if you have questions!

attendance: Christie, Nathan, James, Katie, Ramey

Open Hours:

There are still openings in the May calendar for open hours!
Please make sure to check in and see which shifts still need to be
covered.
Nathan will be the "Volunteer Coordinator" for the month of June.

Promotion:

-desire for more promotion of the Flying Brick itself. The events
promotions have been going well, but the library itself could use some
more promotion.
-Open High School- Nathan & Christie will bottom line talking to
the school about promotion of the library- offering it as a safe,
sober space for kids to come in the neighborhood to do homework, etc.
     - Christie brought up a fliering campaign that took place several
years ago in the VCU dorms and suggested doing something similar for
the Brick in the fall. While students aren't the only group we need/
want to reach, they're still an important demographic in the city.
-James does a radio show on Saturday nights from 7-9pm, and would
like to do an interview with someone from the library. Nathan
expressed interest, and James said Salem had previously expressed
interest as well. There was no commitment made; needs to be run by
everybody for questions/concerns/objections, etc.
-Christie also suggested talking to some people from the
Defender, re: promotion via the paper or the radio segment on WRIR
-Ramey will make a sign for the front door listing our open hours.
