    a friend told me about how their involvement in the vcu production of
The Vagina Monologues this year has been pretty unpleasant because the
director's got a raging case of homophobia, and has:

- censored the performance to exclude and silence queer & trans voices
- repeatedly censors those participating from being vocal about queer
inclusion or womyns liberation
- uses their personal religious beliefs as a means to justify their
queerphobic actions

     i'm unsure why this person chose to direct a play meant to encourage
self- empowerment through the exploration of identities & sexualities when
instead they're promoting the complete opposite (repression, discrimination,
other macho bullshit). I'm even more baffled that they think their actions
are completely acceptable, and will go unnoticed.


   they need to be confronted & made to realize that their bigotry isn't
welcome here.



     if anyone would like to stage actions counteracting their intolerance
in a sassy way, please contact me asap. we can decide on a plan over the
internet/ phone then get together beforehand & set something up.

      -the performance is scheduled to happen at 7:30 pm this Friday,
February 4th at an auditorium in vcu's compass area.

 this will be the first of two performances, the second scheduled to happen
in march. since this is a rushed action, anyone interested in doing
something on a larger, more visible scale for the latter performance should
let me know (if the director chooses to continue being a homophobe by then,
of course..)
