Hey all,
Asking around to see who would like to go on the list of endorsers for
the Rally to Dismantle Ableism. The rally will be on Jan 21st. We
would love it if the Flying Brick could be one of the endorsers and/or
would like to table during the rally! Please spread the word to any
individual, group, or organization you think may be interested. We
also still have time slots open for speakers, and we are always
looking for tablers.
Here's the description of the event (Facebook event can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/184609448303280/)
Access(ability) Coalition is a safe space where folks of any age of
various abilities and "disabilities," along with their allies, can
discuss the issues facing differently-abled people in our society.
The purpose of this rally is to spread awareness and destigmatize
issues surrounding differently-abled people. We define
"differently-abled" as anyone that is physically, mentally, or
psychologically diverse. This could include physical limitations, such
as being in a wheelchair, mental limitations such as 'autism,' and
psychological limitations such as any mental health concern, diagnosed
or not.
The Access(ability) Coalition is a group of concerned citizens,
individuals, organizations, and groups working to eliminate the
stigmatization of both mental and physical health issues while
dismantling ableism and making our world more accessible for everyone.
We are very excited! Please come and join the dialogue. We will have
speakers, workshops, and facilitated discussions so that everyone's
voices can be heard.
Thanks!
