Core Collective Meeting Notes - 7-23-12
Attendance: Allison, Steve, Shane, Mara, Ellen, Nathan, Robert, Janissa
Facilitator: Nathan
Notes: Nathan & Mara
I have basically just summarized the notes we took on the big sheets of
paper. Our main goal of this meeting was to map out and determine what
working groups should exist in the collective and what their respective
responsibilities should be. We did this using the papers from the last
meetings that listed tasks that we carry out now, ones we'd like to carry
out in the future, and things that tend to fall by the wayside sometimes,
but are super important.
Each Working Group also should be responsible for coming up with long term
plans, goals, and visions for their group as it relates to larger group.
Here is what we came up with:
Education Workgroup:
- bottomling events, making sure the users of the space have everything
they need
- maintaining the blog with educational info
- Book Buying, oriented at matching education efforts here.
Outreach Work Group:
- Maintaining steady supply of promo materials
- bottomlining tabling, and seeking tabling events
- Maintaining the Blog/Social Media about things the library is doing
- "Customer Service (ew)". Making sure there is a culture of inclusivity
and friendliness during open hours and events.
Fundraising Working Group:
- Consistent Fundraisers
- Organizing fundraiser events
- seeking out others to hold events for us
- maintaining the budget
Volunteer Working Group:
- Maintaining the listserv
- keeping steady supply of forms and papers needed for the library
- Oversight of tasks being completed in the library, making sure new
volunteers know what things need to be done.
- Friendly and inclusive atmosphere in the library, for both volunteers and
visitors.
Other notes on groups:
- Many areas will overlap. Including, but not limited to:
- Networking
- Inclusivity
- Organizing and bottomlining events
- Members in each group will probably be shared. There will be a limit on
capacity for everyone, and all groups should be talking and practicing good
communication about their capacity.
I think thats it. Please add or correct anything I missed.
