Hey everyone, here are the notes from last weeks meeting. Sorry for the
lateness, I went out of town and left the notes in Richmond. :I.

Some things of importance if you don't want to read all the notes:

The Flying Brick open hours in August will be THURSDAYS ONLY. We are going
to be regrouping and organizing and taking some time to get our head in the
game, just like Zac Efron.

ALSO. There is a cleaning brunch  on Aug 6th at 11am. If you're a volunteer
come out and eat pancakes and make the books look nice!

*Library check-in*

Robin wants more foot-traffic,

Allison also wants more traffic

Emily would like more guidance and ideas of what to do during shifts

Ellen feels like the brick is becoming irrelevant and wants to change that



*Events:*

Neighborhood Day out:

-          A meet-and-great for neighbor hoods, usually used as a
“meet-and-greet” for Fireman and Police to interact with people in a
particular neighborhood. An idea was put forward to plan a light
meet-the-neighbors event to increase visibility around the block if one was
not happening in the fan.  Emily will do research and find out more.

Animal Liberation: Screening/Show

-          Ellen will be tabling at both events. We may need more tabling
supplies

Back to School Event

-          Interest in doing a Back to School even in early September. Will
wait until mid-August to plan. Should work in tandem with Really Really
Free Market event.

Twin Oaks Woman’s Gathering

-          Ellen is attending, will bring tableing information

Augest cleaning day

 - Aug 6th is cleaning brunch day at 11 am - YAY pancakes





*Foot Traffic*

Need to flyer at business/location. Ellen will work on designing new poster
that has a better image. Will start putting up general flyers in places
starting Aug 1st

Brought up idea to communicate and work with other libraries/book stores to
see about potential events together. Group resolved to think about ideas
till the next meeting

An idea to have a book-reading event was brought up, everyone into it but
also decided to table it until next meeting

Ellen wants to up the snack game.

Putting out reading supplies @ places like: Cafes, Bookstores, Shops and
attaching business cards to them was decided to be a good way to not only
share literature but also increase visibility of The Brick. Volunteers are
encouraged to staple Flying Brick cards to literature (papers, pamplets)
that we have several copies of and take them to public places where folks
read



*Screening:*

Ellen/Eric should be finished by the end of the month. Will bring sweet
Shirts to the free market



*Budget:*

Robin will Email Katie about the Budget.

*Blog Activity*

Robin will take a more active role in updating the Blog and facebook page.
Will possibly create a Flying Brick tumblr in August



*August Open Hours*

For the month of August the Flying Brick will be closed on Monday. Hours
during the Thursday will remain the same. Robin will update the Facebook
page and blog.
